The General Store
by David More, Red Deer
(130.7 m2)
Jacob Miller, shown in the mural's centre, ran a general
store and post office in Stony Plain for many years. He was also
the town's second mayor, from 1908-12. To Miller's left is the
store as it apeared in 1928, while the right shows the store
interior. Cash in the store was moved by pulley from the clerks
in the store to an accountant on the upper floor, who made change
and sent it back to the clerks by pulley.
